Mister found his forever home!

When Mister was brought into the Lodi Animal Shelter he was in a very poor state. It was heartbreaking to see such a wonderful¬†dog that had been so neglected, with fly striking and sores on his body, and who was so malnourished that his ribs and hip bones were clearly visible through his skin.¬†Mister was in dire need of help, a steady diet, and a lot of love, and over the next few weeks that’s exactly what he would get!

With his calm and loving demeanor, he quickly became a favorite of our volunteers and shelter staff, and one of the shelter officers couldn’t resist those big brown eyes and so she decided to foster him and help bring him back to good health. Mister would come into work with her each day and curl up on his big doggy bed, getting lots of love and attention throughout the day, and go home with her at night to help acclimate him to a loving home environment.

It didn’t take long for Mister’s transformation to begin, and within just two weeks, Mister had gained over 15 lbs of body weight back; he no longer looked emaciated, and the sores and fly striking were healing, as well. Mister was becoming the dog he was always meant to be!

We were all definitely enjoying having Mister around to love on, but when the day came for him to go to his new forever home we couldn’t have been any happier for him, or his new family. Mister will have a new sister to hang out with, and play with, and an new owner that will give him all the love and care he needs.

Thank you to Henry and Roxie for opening your hearts and home to a very special dog!
